SBARC After Hours Emergencies
South Bend Animal Resource Center (SBARC) will respond to after-hours calls (5:00 PM – 8:30 AM) in emergency situations, when an animal presents a public safety hazard, or when requested by the SBPD, SBFD, or another government agency. Response times may vary, as there is limited staff on call after hours.
Please direct non‑emergency concerns to 311 during business hours.
When SBARC Will Respond
- Public safety hazards involving a domesticated animal or an injured wildlife that poses an immediate public safety threat
- Domesticated animals in life-threatening danger
- All emergency requests from SBPD, SBFD, or other government agencies.

When SBARC Will NOT Respond
- Situations in which the animal is not in immediate danger
- Situations in which the animal does not present a public safety hazard
- Wildlife concerns unless the injured animal presents a public safety hazard
- Non-domesticated animals on private property
- Stray domesticated animals running loose
- Deceased animals (please contact the Street Department)
- Exception: PD or Fire request Animal Control on scene
- Minor domesticated animal bites where the animal can be confined
