SW-REQUEST: Report Lost Container Due to Flood

Is there a cost for a new container if the original is not found?

There is no cost associated with a container lost in a natural disaster.

Who is eligible to report the lost container?

Any resident paying for City trash services that lost a container in a flood.

What happens when I report a lost container due to a flood?

Once the initial call is made, the resident will receive their container serial number. Residents are instructed to search for their container.

In one week's time, a follow up call will be made from Solid Waste. If the container has not been found, one will be delivered on your next trash day following the initial call.

How do I report a lost container because of flooding?

By calling the City's 311 center. Please specify your address and your trash date.

After two weeks from the initial date of the flood, this option will not be available.

For 311:

Liaisons: Please put in a service request for each call. Please give each resident their missing container's serial number. Ask them to look in low lying places and around their neighborhood for their totes. During this time, Solid Waste will send crews out to sweep areas for lost containers. DO NOT PUT IN A CONTAINER REQUEST IN ELEMOS. After one week's time, Solid Waste will follow up with the resident and enter the container request. If the container has not been found by this time, we will sent out a replacement container at no cost. After two weeks from the initial date of the flood, this option will not be available.
