When can I report non-emergency crime?

  • Monday - Friday 7:00 am to 11:00 pm
  • Observed City Holidays (see list here) 9:00 am to 5:00 pm
    • Closed on Thanksgiving Day and Christmas Day


Where can I file an accident report?

  • Only officers can write accident reports  
    • Officer needs to be at the scene of the accident to write the report
  • For accidents with injury call 911
  • For accidents with non-injury call 574-235-9212


Who should file a non-emergency accident report?

Any person operating a vehicle on a South Bend roadway involved in an accident resulting in any property damage exceeding one thousand dollars ($1,000) in which a police officer was not called to investigate, can file a written report with the South Bend Police Department within ten (10) days of the occurrence.
