Vehicle Identification Number (VIN) checks can be done at the South Bend Police Department or offsite by a police officer.

When can I get a VIN check?
VIN checks can be done at the South Bend Police Department during business hours which are 8am to 4pm.
For offsite VIN checks, the fee must be paid at the Police Department and the receipt shown to the officer once they arrive. If you do not have your receipt the officer will not proceed. VIN checks must be done during daylight hours only.
How much do VIN checks cost?
VIN checks cost $5 and must be paid before an officer will perform the check whether it is at the Police Department or at another location.
Payment can only be made at the South Bend Police Department.
