Where is the Building Department's Jurisdiction?
The Building Department serves the City of South Bend & some St. Joseph County properties.
3 or 4 digit addresses within South Bend are considered "City"
5 digit addresses, or anything outside of South Bend City limits, are considered "County"
3 or 4 digit addresses in Mishawaka, New Carlisle, Walkerton have their own Building Dept.
3 or 4 digit addresses in Lakeville, North Liberty, Osceola, Roseland require the town board's approval, prior to the South Bend/St. Joseph County Building Dept. approval
All addresses in Indian Village require Indian Village's approval, prior to the South Bend/St. Joseph County Building Dept. approval.
