Abandoned Vehicle Auction
Abandoned vehicle auctions are held in order to sell abandoned vehicles that have been impounded and not claimed within 20 days. It is a silent bid auction. Viewings for the vehicles are held the Friday and Monday before the bid opening on Tuesday. At the viewings, bid forms are handed out to prospective bidders. The bid forms are to be filled out and returned to the Board of Public Works in a sealed envelope prior to the meeting. A notification is sent to the winners who will receive an application for title to be taken to the Bureau of Motor Vehicles. Vehicles need to be removed within 5 business days of the award date. After that date, a $15.00 daily storage fee is charged up to 15 days. At that time the bid will be automatically rescinded.
